How To Report Spam


Customers who receive unsolicited email in their Road Runner inbox have two options for reporting that mail to Road Runner.

  • If you're using our webmail service offering, simply click on the Report Spam button.
  • If you're using a typical email client (e.g., Thunderbird,Windows Mail, Outlook Express, etc.) you can forward samples as attachments to spamblock@postmaster.rr.com

Note: This request that complaints be forwarded as attachments is new for us as of February 2010.


An Important Note Regarding Unsolicited Email Complaints

In an effort to provide better service to our customers, we are forwarding some complaints we receive to other ISPs and senders who have signed up for feedback. Your email address will be removed from any complaint we forward; however, since the process of forwarding the complaints is automated, we must ask that you please do not include any personal information (full name, street address, phone number, account information, etc.) in your spam complaints.

Below are instructions on how to forward mail as attachments for some common email client programs.


Windows Live Mail, Windows Mail, and Outlook Express:

Method 1

  • Highlight the message in its mailbox. (Alternatively, open it in its own window.)
  • Select Message -> Forward as Attachment from the menu. (In Windows Live Mail, select Actions | Forward as Attachment.)
  • Address the message to spamblock@postmaster.rr.com
  • Click Send

Method 2

  • Start a new message to spamblock@postmaster.rr.com
  • Locate the spam sample in its folder
  • Drag and drop the message onto the email composition window. (You can also highlight multiple messages and drag and drop to attach them all to one message.)
  • Click Send

Mozilla Thunderbird:

  • Open the spam you want to forward
  • Select Message -> Forward As -> Attachment from the menu.
  • Address the email to spamblock@postmaster.rr.com
  • Click Send

Outlook:

You'll first have to setup Outlook to forward messages as attachments:

  • Select Tools -> Options... from the menu
  • Click on the Preferences Tab
  • Click on E-Mail Options
  • Select "Attach original message" under "When forwarding a message" in the "On replies and forwards" section
  • Click OK
  • Click OK one more time

Now that you're setup to forward messages as attachments, follow these steps to report spam to Road Runner.
