General questions regarding Road Runner's spam blocks or blocking policies
can be directed to blockinfo@postmaster.rr.com
In December 2003, Road Runner instituted a policy that
prohibits direct connections to its inbound mail servers from
its residential dynamic space. If you're a Road Runner customer
attempting to send email, and you're receiving an error
message that looks like any of the following:
ERROR:5.7.1:550 Mail Refused - res.rr.com - See http://postmaster.rr.com/rrDynamic
ERROR:5.7.1:550 Mail Refused - dialroam.rr.com - See http://postmaster.rr.com/rrDynamic
ERROR:5.7.1:550 Mail Refused - NETWORK_NUMBER - See http://postmaster.rr.com/rrDynamic
ERROR:5.7.1:550 Mail Refused - IP_ADDRESS - See http://postmaster.rr.com/rrDynamic
then you're in Road Runner dynamic space.
Your options to rectify this situation are as follows:
-
If you are a Residential customer, reconfigure
your computer or mail client to relay all email through
the appropriate local Road Runner outbound SMTP server.
The hostname for that server is
smtp-server.DOMAIN.rr.com
where "DOMAIN.rr.com" would be the same as the part
after the @ sign of your email address. Some examples:
If your email address is joe@tampabay.rr.com, your SMTP server is smtp-server.tampabay.rr.com.
If your email address is sally@austin.rr.com, your SMTP server is smtp-server.austin.rr.com.
And so forth...
-
If you believe that you are a Business Class or Static
customer who requires the ability to run your own mail
server, then contact your local cable division.
You have either been incorrectly provisioned in space
that is
reserved for residential customers, or the space you're
in needs to be re-designated as non-Residential space,
or you're a Residential customer who may need to upgrade
to a different tier of service.
